Who we are
Scouted (getscouted.io) is a job marketplace in reverse: job seekers build a profile once, and Scouted sends it to recruiters whose searches it matches.
This page explains what we store about you, who sees it, and how to get it changed or deleted. Questions go to support@getscouted.io.
What we store
We only store what we need to run Scouted:
- Your account email. You sign in with a code we email to it.
- If you are a seeker: the CV file you upload and the profile we build from it (experience, education, skills, salary expectations, preferences and the countries you want to work in).
- Messages between seekers and recruiters.
- Interview notes and outcomes you record in your tracker.
- Your credit history and subscription status. Paddle tells us whether you are subscribed; we never see your full card number.
- If you are a recruiter: your workspace (company, saved searches, saved cards, cards you pass to colleagues and the notes on those passes). Private notes you write on a candidate stay in your browser and never reach our servers.
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in. See the Cookies page.
- A log of the emails we send you, with your address stored only as a hash.
Payments
Seekers pay for Scouted with a subscription (Starter or Pro, paid at the start of each period) and optional credit packs. Recruiters use Scouted free.
Paddle is the merchant of record for every seeker payment: Paddle sells the subscription to you and handles billing, tax, refunds and your card details. We never see your full card number. Paddle’s buyer terms apply, and invoices and refund requests go through Paddle.
Who processes your data for us
We use a few companies to run Scouted. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): hosting, database and file storage, in the eu-west-2 region (London).
- Amazon SES: sending our emails, from the same AWS region.
- Paddle: payments, as merchant of record.
- Anthropic (Claude): reading your CV to build your profile, and drafting cover letters and messages. Data is sent for processing only and is not used to train models.
- Sentry: error monitoring. Error reports are scrubbed of email addresses, CV text and message bodies.
- Vercel: hosting the website.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account (Settings → Account), we delete your data from the live database immediately and from our encrypted backups within 30 days.
A few things are kept:
- Paddle transaction ids, without any personal data, for our accounts.
- When a seeker deletes their account, recruiters keep the messages they wrote in that thread. The seeker’s messages are deleted.
- When a recruiter deletes their workspace, the seeker keeps the thread, marked “Recruiter left”, with their own messages in it.
Your rights
You can:
- See and export your data: “Download my data” in Settings → Account emails you a link to a zip of JSON files. The link works for 24 hours, and you can ask once a day.
- Correct your data: edit it in Settings at any time.
- Delete your data: delete your account in Settings → Account.
- Object to how we use your data, or complain: email support@getscouted.io. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
For anything else, email support@getscouted.io. We answer within 30 days.
Emails we send
Emails you need to use Scouted, like sign-in codes and payment notices, are always sent. Every other email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can switch each kind off in your notification settings.
Changes to this page
If we change how we use your data in a way that matters, we email you before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the last change.
